Learn more about Training Chat with one of our experienced trainers to learn more about our programs, our fear-free training philosophy and the personalized approach we take with every dog. Frequently asked questions Training FAQ What is a training evaluation and why do I need it? During your dog’s day at Camp, a certified trainer will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to observe how your dog responds to basic commands, cues and everyday distractions. This helps us understand what your dog already knows, where they can improve and how to best align training with your goals. Afterward, you’ll have a one-on-one phone call with our trainers to review the results, discuss program options and pricing and determine the best fit for you and your dog. For owners who prefer a more hands-on approach, we also offer an in-person consultation at a location of your choice. During this session, a trainer will observe your dog’s behavior in real time and work alongside you to address challenges as they occur. This allows us to see the behavior in its natural environment and collaborate on immediate strategies before recommending the ideal training program. Do you offer a guarantee? Training requires consistent effort from both our trainers and you as the owner. While we can’t promise that your dog will reach specific milestones within a set timeline, we can guarantee that our team will be with you every step of the way—offering guidance, support and answers to any questions you may have throughout your program and long after it’s complete. What is your training philosophy? We provide Fear Free, positive reinforcement training that focuses on building trust, confidence and a strong bond between you and your dog. Our methods are entirely force-free, meaning we never rely on punishment, aversive techniques or dominance-based approaches. We also do not use e-collars, prong collars or any tools that cause pain or discomfort. Instead, we focus on reward-based strategies that motivate and encourage your dog, helping them learn desired behaviors in a calm, supportive and humane environment. This approach not only produces more reliable results but also promotes a lifelong love of learning and strengthens the relationship between you and your dog. How often is my dog coming to training? Dogs attend training twice a week, either on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule, with private lessons held on Fridays. We recommend no more than 3 days per week for training and camp to ensure optimal results. What to expect while my dog is at training? During your dog’s training day, they will participate in three 30-minute one-on-one sessions with our certified trainers, each tailored to the behaviors and skills that matter most to you. Between sessions, your dog will have time to decompress and practice settling in a crate, helping them build calmness. Afterward, they can enjoy the rest of their day in their chosen camp program, whether it’s Day Camp or Solo Camp, ensuring a balanced mix of learning, relaxation and fun. Should I bring anything for my dog's day of training? For your dog’s training days, we recommend bringing their breakfast (if they eat kibble) or their favorite treats. Since treats are used frequently during training sessions as positive reinforcement, having familiar food helps prevent stomach upset and keeps your dog motivated and comfortable throughout the day. What is a transitional leash (Sidekick)? During training, your trainer will explore a variety of positive reinforcement tools to determine which works best for your dog and aligns with your training goals. For dogs that pull on the leash, get easily distracted or display reactivity, a transitional leash or “Sidekick” may be recommended to provide gentle guidance and support during walks. Your trainer will always ensure your dog is comfortable and confident with any tool used, recognizing that not every method works for every dog. The approach is fully personalized to maximize effectiveness while keeping your dog happy, safe and engaged.

  • 2026 PRICING CHANGES | Scouts Honor

BOOK NOW: Award Winning Dog Boarding, Daycare, Grooming, & Training Facility. Best of B-Town 2022 & 2023. GROWING WITH HEART Better pet care begins with people who are valued, supported and inspired. Our mission is to create better pet care for our community through enrichment by creating careers, not just paychecks, for the people taking care of your pets. Over the past five years, we have grown from a small team of 12 caregivers into a 35+ employee community built around the belief that your dog deserves the very best. Behind every great day your dog has at Camp is a team of humans that pour their hearts into their work. The people who come in each and every day are why Scout’s Honor has been voted Best of Bloomington every year since we opened our doors. Scout’s Honor is the only pet care provider in Bloomington AND the state of Indiana that starts employees at $15/hour. As the cost of living rises, we’ve made the choice to go beyond a “livable wage." We want to provide thriving wages that support the humans who care for your dogs. That means not only increasing our hourly pay, but also creating more career paths through continued education in animal care, customer service, grooming, training, media and management. We know that price increases are never easy and we want you to know exactly where that increase is going. In addition to higher wages and career investments, we’re facing increased costs in several areas: Higher Pay: Any employee who has been working at Scout’s Honor for over 12 months (this includes over 50% of our employees) will get a base pay increase based on the proposed 2026 budget for the city of Bloomington. This will increase their hourly earnings by $1.36/hour. Health Insurance: Premiums are increasing across the country and we are not immune to the rising costs. We will always offer health insurance to our full-time employees and do our part to ensure they can afford their premiums. Credit Card Processing and Software Fees: Your customer interface and our behind the scenes systems that keeps things smooth and secure. Food and supplies: Rising costs are affecting everything from training treats to cleaning products. Facility Renovations: We are beginning to reflow our facility to make better use of our now 14,000 square foot space reducing noise and improving efficiency while creating a larger grooming salon. New Facility: It is no secret that we are growing out of our current space. This has been one of our busiest years in business and our new facility will have more lodging accommodations, more service options and more daycare capacity. It is likely we will keep our existing facility open alongside our new facility which will create more job opportunities in our community. New Services: In January 2026, we will be expanding our services to include professional grooming and new enrichment options. We will continue to be committed to maintaining the same level of care, intention and excellence that you have come to trust. Non-Profit Support: We have resources our animal shelter and the local humane society can benefit from and we are pledging to always have a foster dog from our local animal shelter starting this November to provide free enrichment, grooming and training services in hopes to make them more adoptable. We are pleading to increase our volunteer involvement and our monetary donations to Monroe County Humane Association . Every dollar spent at Scout’s Honor goes back to the community, into the hands and hearts of the people who care for your dogs, into our animal shelter and humane association and into the continual improvement of the place your dogs love most outside of home. We are deeply grateful for your continued support, understanding and trust as we grow together. Together we are building change that lasts. With gratitude & wagging tails, Allison Jacobs, CEO & Co-Owner Kristen Perrus, COO & Co-Owner
