GROWING WITH HEART
Better pet care begins with people who are valued, supported and inspired. Our mission is to create better pet care for our community through enrichment by creating careers, not just paychecks, for the people taking care of your pets. Over the past five years, we have grown from a small team of 12 caregivers into a 35+ employee community built around the belief that your dog deserves the very best. Behind every great day your dog has at Camp is a team of humans that pour their hearts into their work. The people who come in each and every day are why Scout’s Honor has been voted Best of Bloomington every year since we opened our doors.

Scout’s Honor is the only pet care provider in Bloomington AND the state of Indiana that starts employees at $15/hour. As the cost of living rises, we’ve made the choice to go beyond a “livable wage." We want to provide thriving wages that support the humans who care for your dogs. That means not only increasing our hourly pay, but also creating more career paths through continued education in animal care, customer service, grooming, training, media and management.

We know that price increases are never easy and we want you to know exactly where that increase is going. In addition to higher wages and career investments, we’re facing increased costs in several areas:
-
Higher Pay: Any employee who has been working at Scout’s Honor for over 12 months (this includes over 50% of our employees) will get a base pay increase based on the proposed 2026 budget for the city of Bloomington. This will increase their hourly earnings by $1.36/hour.
-
Health Insurance: Premiums are increasing across the country and we are not immune to the rising costs. We will always offer health insurance to our full-time employees and do our part to ensure they can afford their premiums.
-
Credit Card Processing and Software Fees: Your customer interface and our behind the scenes systems that keeps things smooth and secure.
-
Food and supplies: Rising costs are affecting everything from training treats to cleaning products.
-
Facility Renovations: We are beginning to reflow our facility to make better use of our now 14,000 square foot space reducing noise and improving efficiency while creating a larger grooming salon.
-
New Facility: It is no secret that we are growing out of our current space. This has been one of our busiest years in business and our new facility will have more lodging accommodations, more service options and more daycare capacity. It is likely we will keep our existing facility open alongside our new facility which will create more job opportunities in our community.
-
New Services: In January 2026, we will be expanding our services to include professional grooming and new enrichment options. We will continue to be committed to maintaining the same level of care, intention and excellence that you have come to trust.
-
Non-Profit Support: We have resources our animal shelter and the local humane society can benefit from and we are pledging to always have a foster dog from our local animal shelter starting this November to provide free enrichment, grooming and training services in hopes to make them more adoptable. We are pleading to increase our volunteer involvement and our monetary donations to Monroe County Humane Association.
Every dollar spent at Scout’s Honor goes back to the community, into the hands and hearts of the people who care for your dogs, into our animal shelter and humane association and into the continual improvement of the place your dogs love most outside of home.

We are deeply grateful for your continued support, understanding and trust as we grow together. Together we are building change that lasts.
With gratitude & wagging tails,
Allison Jacobs, CEO & Co-Owner
